I’m Emily, an artist and designer based in San Francisco. Have you ever wandered somewhere new and observed something a little strange or surprising that makes you wonder where you are and what’s going on? That feeling is what I’m exploring in my work. Drawing inspiration from unexpected and melancholic details in my travels and daily wanderings, I aim to capture the emotions and stories evoked in these in-between moments through my art.

Rooted in the visual allure of liminal spaces, my paintings blend familiarity with ambiguity. Through vibrant colors and scenes filled with subtle symbolism, I invite viewers to linger and uncover their own narratives within each overlooked moment, perhaps even discovering new layers of meaning in the liminal moments of their own lives.

Working primarily with watercolor and gouache, I find joy in the unpredictable nature of these mediums. Each stroke becomes an opportunity for improvisation and growth, allowing me to push the boundaries of my creativity.

Beyond painting, I also create one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces that celebrate the beauty of natural stones. My jewelry practice begins with ethically sourcing rocks through my own rockhounding adventures. I then transform these raw materials through lapidary work, crafting cabochons that reveal the unique character of each stone. Finally, I bring everything together through silversmithing, creating wearable art that highlights the tiny universe in each stone.
