👋 Hi, I’m EMily
I’m an artist and designer based in San Francisco.
My work explores emotional connections to place. I’m interested in how certain settings hold feeling, how light can shift the familiar into something mysterious, and what comes up for me in moments of solitude. Much of my work is rooted in environments that feel both familiar and foreign.
I work primarily in watercolor and gouache, inspired by the improvisational nature of these mediums. Color and light play an important role in the work, inviting a slower way of looking.
At its core, my practice reflects my relationship with the places I inhabit or pass through, often as a visitor in unfamiliar settings. I’m drawn to the overlooked, transient moments that shape how I experience a place.
Alongside painting, I also create one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. Each piece begins with rough material I ethically source through my own rockhounding. I do all of the silversmithing and lapidary work, shaping cabochons to reveal the beauty within each stone. This part of my practice is deeply tied to spending time with materials.
